DAY 32: Third Day in Prague
I awaited the evening. Had a specific goal in mind tonight: experience the Prague nightlife. Specifically I wanted to see live jazz. Envisioned an intimate, dimly-lit setting with a giant glass of brew and great musicians on stage. Took the tram downtown. Not too far from the St. Charles Bridge. The spot I was looking for was known as AghaRTA Live Jazz. Group called Emil Vicklicky Trio was playing tonight. I’ve been hooked on jazz since purchasing the soundtrack to Damien Cha

DAY 31: Second Day in Prague
I found what I was searching for; What I was after within myself. The ultimate purpose behind this trip. I know the conclusion of my journey is on the horizon. I can feel it. I’ve decided to extend my stay in Czech Republic. I’m inspired. Constantly. By the art, the people, the city. I took the tram towards Prague Castle. Felt obliged to begin today’s journey at one of the city’s most iconic tourist attractions. I walked through the parks beforehand. Admired the well-kept gre

DAY 30: First Day in Prague
8am. Time to vacate Berlin. Left from the Alexanderplatz train station directly to Berlin central. Booked a ticket one-way to Prague in the Czech Republic. 4.5 hour direct ride from Berlin. Easy. The trained pulled up and I opted for one of the cars that only a few people were piling into. There didn’t appear to be too many people clamoring to visit Prague if my car was any indication. That changed quickly... “Ticket, please,” the attendant said. I obliged her and upon handin

DAY 29: A Day at Schaffhausen Concentration Camp
Back in Amsterdam I mentioned a dublin-based DJ I’d encountered at a coffeeshop. He’d mentioned visiting a concentration camp during his visit to Berlin. Couldn’t stop saying what a harrowing experiencing it was. “Eerie”, he kept saying. From that point on, it was my mission to visit this place. Sachsenhausen concentration camp was only an hour and fifteen minute trip from the Berlin center. Specifically in a town called Oranienburg. It’s a free memorial and museum unless you

DAY 28: Second Day in Berlin
Needed to redeem myself for yesterday’s unproductive behavior. Woke up early. On foot first-thing. Purchased a city map and circled what I wanted to accomplish. Headed down Unter den Liden towards Museum Island. It’s precisely what it sounds like: small area surrounded by canals, containing museums and cathedrals… with additional museums inside said cathedrals. Stumbled on a World War II memorial I didn’t circle on the map. It was called Neue Wache, which means “New Guardhous

DAY 27: Second Day in Berlin
Overcome with laziness. Spent the morning catching up on blog entries and editing photos before finally walking to the center of Berlin. I didn’t do much. Wandered. I walked through the shopping malls mostly. Disinterested; I hate shopping. I was fiending for pizza. Found a spot attached to the train station but I probably could’ve done better. Half pizza, half kebab joint. Didn’t take long for it to be ready. I sat down at the benches outside. I hadn’t even been on my ass fo

DAY 26: Last Day in London/First Night in Berlin
Time to move on. Packed my belongings. Finished off whatever groceries remained. And I was on my way to Berlin. Bus to Finsbury Park station. Underground Victoria tram to King’s Cross station. St. Pancras station to London Gatwick airport. Arrived at the gate on time but naturally the flight was delayed. This appeared to be a common occurrence associated with EasyJet airlines. The plane didn’t leave the runway for over an hour after boarding. Pleasant flight until the gray cl

DAY 25: Third Day in London
London isn’t a place to wander without a plan. Not until you reach the River Thames. I hardly consulted the map upon reaching it. Came out of Liverpool Street Station this time. King’s Cross Station was what I was familiar with, so it took a minute to reorient myself. Walking in the wrong direction multiple times only to return to square one, that sort of routine. The Tower of London was first on the itinerary. On my way over I discovered an unexpected attraction: The Monumen

DAY 24: Second Day in London
I had attempted to write this entry earlier but I couldn’t muster the effort. Felt uninspired. I didn’t have a finger on London yet. Wasn’t sure I had much to write. I took the Victoria Underground into King’s Cross. Didn’t arrive into London’s King’s Cross station until late afternoon. They don’t offer complimentary maps like everywhere else; 3 pounds, the fuckers! It was crowded. Hectic. Hustle and bustle energy. Rain would stop and start at varying intervals. Once I appreh

DAY 23: Last Day in York/First Day in London
Too soon. Before leaving York I was already missing it. My friend and I had lunch together. Delicious chinese restaurant near the station. Fried vegetable rolls, dumplings, sweet and sour chicken with fried rice; All of it stellar. My friend saw me off and I can’t express enough how important this visit was for me. True friendship couldn’t have come at a better time. I felt ready to dive back into my wandering through Europe again. Recharged. Took the Virgin East coast train
